Sew the remaining 2 ½ inch squares as shown and press seams to the centre.
Sew the dark 6 ½ x 2 ½ inch strip to these and press seams to the centre.
Sew the two 1 ½ x 6 ½ inch strips to either side of this block and press the seams towards the outside.
Sew the two 1 ½ x 8 ½ inch strips to the top and bottom of this block and press the seams to the outside.
