Place the two contrasting 5 ¾ inch squares with right sides together. Use a fabric pen and draw across diagonally from corner to corner on the back of one of the squares.
Sew ¼ inch either side of these diagonal lines
Cut along the drawn diagonal lines and through the middle from top to bottom and side to side to form eight pieces.
Press the seams to the dark side and trim the squares to 2 ½ inches.
